Truman's Journey
Tracking the miles, milestones, and memories that shape Truman's running story.
Meet Truman, Our Runner
One of the interesting things about me is I am a triplet! I have had the fun of playing and competing in many sports growing up with my 2 brothers, including: Soccer, Baseball, Flag Football, Basketball and finally now in High School…Running. My brother Theo started with me our freshman year, while Winston played basketball before joining us as runners our sophomore year.
I truly enjoy running and have focused on approaching it like I learned in other sports with a methodical approach to develop a winning process. I have always sought out highly successful mentors who were ahead of me in sports to help me learn and grow. From there, I incorporated their insights and knowledge to develop my own processes to continually strive to improve.
If you were to ask my teammates, they would note that my focus is all about the process. As my coach says to us “Trust the Process.” For me, the process is the key. I have a very detailed processes for race weeks, for 48-24 hours ahead of a race, for the night before a race, and for race day. Each of these processes and my focus get more intense as race time gets closer. I absolutely credit these processes for both my consistent in season race performances as well as my continual steady progression and improvement over the last 2.5 years. My processes are written down, planned out and I go as far as to set alarms to ensure exact execution. I continually review what works well and to these to look for ways to tweak, improve and evolve these for better results or as my running changes and perhaps I am now running 3 events in a track meet, or to account for whether I am running a specific race for time or to try and place and help my team score maximum points.
I am proud of how I have grown, but far from finished…The best is yet to come!
